How does Raw Honey and Pollen work?
Eating well never tasted so good!
Honey and pollen are some of the most nutritious foods out there. Raw local honey contains natural sugars and other minerals. It contains tons of pollen and is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-microbial. Pollen is so nutritious some say you could live on pollen and water alone (if you had to...)
Why is Honey so Healthy?
Is the honey in the store real honey? Well it depends. Yes it was made by bees but it's the SOURCE of the honey that determines the quality.
A recent testing for various grocery store honeys found that 76% of honey in the tested major Grocery store chains had NO POLLEN in it! To get it that way the honey had to be heated to extreme temperatures and ultra filtered. They took out all the good stuff!
They do this to achieve consistency and to cloak where the honey comes from (China). I got nothing against China but sorry I'd rather have my honey from a local source. Chinese beekeeping operations have been known to feed their enormous hives high fructose corn syrup which the bees turn into honey. No thanks!
Health benefits of honey
Honey is made up of glucose, fructose, and minerals such as iron, calcium, phosphate, sodium chlorine, potassium, magnesium. That's besides all the delicious pollen in there!
Pollen the "Super Food"!
Most pollen has over 18 amino acids, numerous enzymes, and is generally concidered to be a “super food.” In addition, pollen is rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals, fatty acids, hormones, carotenoids and bioflavonoids.
Pollen also has, pound per pound, as much protein as steak! It helps the baby bees grow fast and strong and it does wonders for people too!
Why is H&H Honey Special?
At H&H our honey is special. Most local beekeepers warm up there honey and pass it through extra filters to leave a clear super runny honey. This is fine and still considered "raw honey"
But at H&H we are super raw. When we extract the honey we leave in waxes and propolis leading to a gorgeous light amber honey about the consistancy of honey butter. Now it will still pour just fine, It's not hard at all but with it's honey butter consistency it spreads so much nicer on toast or bread.
It also has a little finer grit with the bit of wax left in so I think it dissolves on your tongue in the most marvelous way. Wait a sec, I need to go grab some real quick... Mmm...
Ok obviously I'm biased but seriously this stuff is golden delicious.
